Christmas cookies!
Christmas is around the corner and I love it!

 

I love baking for the Holidays and I feel like food is really the best gift to give away!

Trying to bake for Christmas with as many local organic produce as possible is a little tricky but it's a lot of fun! Today I am making thumbprint cookies with local organic apples and maple sirup to give them a little Canadian touch! 

There are really simple to make but taste delicious!

Ingredients

Cookies:

1 cup butter

1/2 cup icing sugar

1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp cinnamon

2 cups flour

Apples:

2 apples, peeled and finely diced

1 tbsp butter

2 tbsp maple syrup

2 tbsp water

Organic Apple Cookies

In a bowl, cream the butter and the icing sugar. Add salt, flour and cinnamon until combined. Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes.

In a pan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add apples, maple syrup and water. Allow to simmer for a few minutes.

Preheat oven to 350F.

Shape the dough into balls. Place on a cookie sheet. With thumb, dent each cookie. Put apples in each thumbprint. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes.
